What is the new consent wording on JustGiving?

After consulting with our charity customers, we have created new consent statements which are now live, along with our updated privacy notice. 

Our new consent statement when someone makes a donation:

I'm happy for {charity} to keep me informed, by email, about the impact of my donation and other ways to support them including future events, campaigns and appeals (which will require JustGiving to pass my information to {charity})

  • Yes please, opt me in
  • No thanks, opt me out

NOTE: You can update your preferences directly with {charity} at any time.

Our new consent statement when someone makes a Fundraising Page:

I'm happy for {charity} to keep me informed, by email, about the impact of my fundraising and other ways to stay involved including future events, campaigns and appeals.

  • Yes please, opt me in
  • No thanks, opt me out

NOTE: {charity} will receive your details and may need to contact you to support you in this fundraising effort. You can update your preferences directly with {charity} at any time.

Just a reminder that when you receive someone’s consent data from JustGiving, you will need to provide them with your privacy notice within a reasonable period after receiving their data, and at least by the earlier of (1) one month from receiving the data; (2) your first communication with the constituent; or (3) your disclosure of the data to another recipient. The type of information you will need to include in your privacy notice is discussed in Articles 13 and 14 of the GDPR.
